With the midsize SUV now past its seventh model year on sale, we expect the Lexus RX 2023 to be redesigned for the next model year.
A complete redesign will make the 2023 Lexus RX much more competitive in a mid-range segment that has seen some new arrivals and is completely redesigned.
Lexus hasn’t previewed the design of the 2023 Lexus RX yet, but we expect it to sport a design similar to the completely redesigned NX arriving for 2022. We expect the Lexus spindle grille to be prominently featured on the front of the SUV and sit in the front.
Sharp headlights with the brand’s signature tick-mark LED lights. At the rear, we expect the SUV to receive updated lighting while maintaining the curvy roofline.
The three-row 2023 Lexus RX L should benefit from the same exterior design changes but will have a longer body to accommodate three rows of seating.

The Lexus RX 2023 is a mid-size luxury SUV with a reputation for smooth driving and a cabin filled with quality materials, such as soft-touch surfaces and moistened controls.
With room for five passengers, or seven when ordered with the optional third-row seats in the RX L trim, this Lexus has all the right buttons for a car buyer who wants a premium vehicle that’s safe, easy to drive, and reliable.
The 2023 Lexus RX is one of the best-selling luxury SUVs on sale today thanks to all these great attributes, but we think this Lexus sports car is ready for some revisions to stay competitive with the BMW X5, Mercedes-Benz GLE, Lincoln Aviator, and Genesis GV80.
This will likely require revisions to the front and rear of the 2023 Lexus RX, centered on the design of the headlights and taillights, along with the overall size and finer details of the front grille.
Lexus may eventually scale back the polarizing spindle grills that have defined its lineup, but nothing is certain at the time of this writing.
Changes to the cabin should be relatively minimal and perhaps focus on new trim and color options, plus a potentially larger standard touchscreen.
The previous 2023 Lexus RX lineup recently underwent some updates related to making the infotainment system easier to use and more user-friendly in terms of smartphone connectivity.
Lexus could turn a lot of its attention to what’s under the hood of the 2023 Lexus RX. While the 2022 model year RX 350 comes with a 295-horsepower 3.5-liter V6 engine coupled to an 8-speed automatic and a choice of front-wheel or all-wheel drive, it’s possible Lexus could at least expand its powertrain options to include a turbocharged four. -cylinder.
This could even be the basis for a second hybrid variant, to follow the existing RX 450h hybrid (the model we reviewed separately).
Lexus RX 2023 New Model
As a completely redesigned model, the Lexus RX 2023 should come with new technological features. The current 2023 Lexus RX comes standard with an eight-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Wi-Fi hot spots, six USB ports, and nine audio speakers.
Features available on the current 2023 Lexus RX include a 12.3-inch touchscreen, a 15-speaker Mark Levinson audio system, navigation, and a wireless charging pad.
While the 2023 Lexus RX is currently available with a 3.5-liter V6 engine producing 295 horsepower and an eight-speed automatic transmission, we expect Lexus to make some changes to the powertrain of the 2023 model. Lexus could move to offer the RX with a standard turbocharged four-cylinder engine, as found. in NX.
The current 2023 Lexus RX Hybrid has a 3.5-liter V6 engine and three electric motors for a combined output of 308 horsepower. The CVT is standard with the RX Hybrid. We expect the RX Hybrid to get an update to be more efficient, as the model can take advantage of the same turbo engine as the rest of the lineup.
In crash testing, the 2023 Lexus RX is currently getting good ratings. IIHS awarded the SUV a Top Safety Pick rating, while NHTSA gave it an overall five-star safety rating. We think Lexus will match the RX with better headlights, which should help it get a better score from the IIHS.
Lexus currently offers the 2023 Lexus RX a list of safety features that include forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, rear traffic warning, blind-spot monitoring, pedestrian detection, adaptive cruise control, lane guard assistance, lane departure warning, and traffic sign recognition.
Available features include a heads-up display, automatic reverse emergency braking, parking sensors, and a surround-view camera.

2023 Lexus RX Specs
One will reportedly come with forced induction and a plug-in hybrid powertrain. Lexus is sure to give its 2023 Lexus RX line a major overhaul in terms of powertrain options. That is if we believe the rumors from two Japanese sources, Creative311 and Magazine X.
According to two publications, the Lexus RX 2023 will get a different lineup of powertrains for use with the next-generation model. including a new plug-in hybrid option. The all-new 2023 Lexus RX will be announced this year.
First, Lexus will reportedly replace its naturally aspirated 3.5-liter V6 with a turbocharged 2.4-liter petrol engine, the same possibility found on the new Lexus NX. This forcibly induced four-banger delivers 275 horsepower (205 kilowatts) and 317 pound-feet (430 Newton-meters) in the NX350.
The hybrid powertrain in the 2023 Lexus RX lineup will come in three flavors, according to the report. The new range-topper RX500his said to replace the current RX450h. This will be a PHEV-type vehicle that will combine a 2.4-liter turbocharged motor with an electric engine.
An RX450h+ will continue in the range, which will use a normally aspirated 2.5-liter power plant and an electric engine, driven by a lithium-particle battery.
The base hybrid is said to be called the RX350h, in the same vein as the new NX350h. It will also be powered by a 2.5-liter engine and an electric motor.
Both publications fail to provide output and range numbers to keep up with the revamped powertrain lineup.
It remains unclear whether Lexus will continue to offer the base 2.0-liter turbocharged option in the revamped 2023 Lexus RX lineup.
As always, take this report with some skepticism – at least until the automaker provides concrete details.
The Lexus RX 2023 will launch this year, with reports pointing to the latter half of the year. Like today’s newer Toyotas, it will use the TNGA platform.
2023 Lexus RX 350 Interior
On the inside, we believe the 2023 RX will have a similar design to the current NX on sale.
We expect this midsize SUV to come with a new dashboard that will see the infotainment system integrated into a single unit with the instrument cluster. The center console will be slimmer with fewer buttons and dials.
We also expect the SUV to receive better materials, improved dials in the instrument cluster, and better interior space.
2023 Lexus RX Redesign
2023 Lexus RX 350 Redesign The next-generation Lexus RX could adopt a powertrain line-up consisting of only four-cylinder engines, including a plug-in hybrid.
Japanese outlets Creative311 and MagX report the 2023 Lexus RX, which is reportedly due for release this fall (our spring), will be available with a choice of three hybrid powertrains plus one petrol powertrain.
The RX350 will reportedly downgrade its naturally aspirated 3.5-liter V6 in favor of a turbocharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder, likely the one used on the redesigned NX350.
In the NX350, it produces 205kW of power and 430Nm of torque and is mated to an eight-speed automatic drive and all-wheel drive.
If this engine were to replace the current model’s V6, the RX350 would experience a 16kW drop in power but a 60Nm increase in torque.
The three-pronged hybrid range will reportedly include plug-in hybrids and end with the new RX500h, which marries a 2.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine with an electric motor.
It will replace the current RX450h, which combines a 3.5-liter atmo V6 engine with two electric motors for a total power output of 230kW.
The new RX450h+ will reportedly appear, mating a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine with an electric motor and lithium-ion battery.
In the new NX450h+, an 18.1kWh battery is used in conjunction with two electric motors, for a total system output of 227kW of power.
The base hybrid will reportedly be called the RX350h, and pair a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine with an electric motor just like on the new NX350h.
In a smaller SUV, this powertrain has a total system output of 179kW and uses an electronic continuously variable transmission.
Lexus cites maximum torque figures of 239Nm for the engine, 270Nm for the front-wheel-drive model electric motor, and 391Nm for the all-wheel-drive model electric motor.
In addition to the RX350 and RX450h, the current 2023 Lexus RX also features a base 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder option, known as the RX300, which produces 175kW and 350Nm. It is not clear whether this will continue.
The new 2023 Lexus RX is expected to move to the TNGA architecture, as are other SUVs such as the recently redesigned Toyota Kluger and Harrier.
Automotive News reports the 2023 Lexus RX will launch in the US in the second half of this year, suggesting a launch in Australia could take place at the end of the year or early next year.
Companies don’t get ahead with just hybrids.
Lexus has revealed a new crossover, the RZ, which shares the base of the-TNGA with the Toyota bZ4x and Subaru Solterra.
In the US, at least the Lexus RZ would be known as the
RZ450e type model with one of its drivetrain options. The Lexus RZ will be available with the new Direct4 all-wheel-drive system.
Details about the Lexus RZ450e’s drivetrain haven’t been revealed yet but it’s bolder than the 160kW dual-motor setup available on the bZ4X and Solterra.
Externally, it bears a strong family resemblance to the RX, if lower and slimmer with a rake that is steeper to the tailgate.
Lexus is also reportedly preparing a wider three-row crossover to replace the current RX L, which has a somewhat compromised packaging at the very rear.
Late last year, Lexus released a shadow teaser of what we believe to be a series of current and next-generation non-electric models, and one of them is a boxy SUV.
That could be this rumored three-row crossover, or a redesigned version of the GX, a body-on-frame SUV based on the Toyota LandCruiser Prado.

2023 Lexus RX 350 Release Date
Lexus has yet to reveal any official information about the 2023 RX. We expect vehicles to arrive in fall 2022 with the RX L and RX Hybrid arriving a little later.
2023 Lexus RX Price
With the upcoming redesign, the price for the Lexus RX 2023 will be higher than the current model on sale.
Prices for the Lexus RX currently range from $46,395 to $51,275 (by destination). The RX L starts at $49,225, while the RX Hybrid costs $49,095.
We expect the entry-level version of the Lexus RX 2023 midsize luxury SUV to have a starting price of around $46,000.
It remains to be seen whether the RX 2023 lineup will sport the new trim levels or the different powertrain options scattered across the range.
Look for the top-of-the-range 2023 Lexus RX 350 F Sport to continue to have an asking price that hovers around $50,000.
The Lexus RX will compete with the Genesis GV80, BMW X5, Mercedes-Benz GLE, and Volvo XC90.
