Now that Toyota is sending the Land Cruiser nameplate to greener pastures as far as the US market is concerned, everyone is eagerly waiting to see what the future of Lexus is for fans.
In any case, the J300 has already proven to be very successful, with rumors reporting that demand has extended the lead time for shipments by a year from now.
That’s crazy, considering the company has retired the Land Cruiser from America precisely because of sluggish demand, but it seems the J300 model is a winning bet in other territories.
This may leave a void in the hearts and minds of Land Cruiser fans living in the United States. Don’t worry, because everyone is trying to fill it out as best they can.
The nice folks at Carsbite have even made their unofficial interpretation of a possible 2023 Lexus LX. The renders only present the front and rear looks of the luxurious full-size SUV, but we can all assume that the side profile is probably closely related to the donor Land Cruiser. Or just use our imagination and create our virtual project.
However, it remains to be seen how much Lexus will wait until it tries to support the incredible success of the Toyota Land Cruiser J300. Hopefully, it won’t take them long to understand that they can make their SUV an instant off-road hit.
2023 Lexus LX Review: New Lexus LX 2023
Fresh from a complete redesign for the first time in more than a decade, the 2023 Lexus LX 600 is a massive luxury SUV that slides into the next model year with only minor changes. This could easily include adding a hybrid powertrain to the LX lineup, to provide additional horsepower and increased MPG.
With three rows of seating, standard 4-wheel drive (4WD) and a powerful 3.5-liter twin-turbocharged 409-horsepower V6 hiding behind a large front grille, the LX is designed to compete with similar luxury vehicles any SUV. These include the BMW X7, Mercedes-Benz GLS-Class, Land Rover Range Rover, and Cadillac Escalade.

But that doesn’t mean they will accept the added insult of injury and reduce the family-oriented dimension, right?
Well, apparently at Carsbite, there’s enough love for the J300 Land Cruiser and its upcoming 2023 Lexus LX sibling to start considering unofficial builds of a hypothetical body variant. And the new generation 2023 Lexus LX isn’t even official yet, sheesh.
But one cannot argue with those who wander into the land of the imagination; we have learned a lot over the years.
After all, it’s not that the Land Cruiser J300 has never been converted into a coupe by a digital artist. This time, it’s the 2023 Lexus LX turn to undergo (you could say) an unnecessary 2-Door transformation.
For us, there isn’t a need for such luxury, considering people might be better off spending their money on the latest Wrangler or the popular 2021 Bronco.
On the other hand, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, as always. So here’s the impossible Lexus LX Coupe 2023 shining digitally against a mountainous backdrop.
It’s highly unlikely that anyone at Toyota would agree with such a creation, but if it ever did, we can instantly imagine some summer trip to a remote location where the owner owns a very expensive vehicle and owns a small house.
2023 Lexus LX Interior
In typical Lexus style, the 2023 LX’s interior should be upholstered in lots of leather and soft, slick materials. A large number of silencers should also be part of the equation as Lexus has a reputation for building very quiet cars.
To further differentiate the LX from the Land Cruiser, it’s likely to get higher-quality materials like semi-aniline leather, real metal and wood trim, and controls with finer detail than its main sibling.
In terms of features, the 2023 Lexus LX will get comfort. Being a flagship SUV, expect to get things like massage-able front seats, multi-way adjustable front seats, and heated second-row seating.
The seven-seater configuration should stay but it’s also likely that Lexus could retain the five-seater layout that was introduced in today’s cars just a few years ago.
2023 Lexus LX Technology
The next-gen 2023 Lexus LX will finally ditch the touchpad-based infotainment system in favor of a newer unit that debuted in the NX. Dubbed the Lexus Interface, the system features a 9.8 or 14.0-inch touchscreen and retains the traditional knobs and buttons.
It will also get a virtual assistant for people who want to strictly control the user interface by voice. The Mark Levinson surround-sound system should return as an audio upgrade.

The LX’s sales chops will come from the three center trims, says Lexus, the Premium, F Sport Handling, and Luxury models, all featuring seating for seven passengers. I spent my day driving around rural Santa Fe, New Mexico, in the F Sport and Luxury, but there wasn’t a particularly bad choice in this lineup. Whether you buy the base model or the Ultra Luxury, you’ll find the same active safety equipment and off-road performance gear.
The F Sport Handling adds a few aesthetic tweaks and minor suspension upgrades, and all but the LX 600 Standard comes with adaptive dampers, but the $88,000 to $127,000 ride experience is largely consistent.

Lexus LX 570 Super Sport 2023
The Lexus LX 570 goes through the canyons as they would in a sports car, but the company provides SUV Sport and Sport Plus modes for tweaking throttle and transmission parameters.
Even when it comes to Sport Plus, the steering is still sketchy and there’s a lot of body movement. The good news is that the eight-speed transmission shifts nicely in the background, not drawing any attention to itself.
Thankfully, there are some standard driving aids, and the adaptive cruise control worked well to slow the LX down once I hit traffic.
Unfortunately, the low-speed modulation of the adaptive cruise control is terrible. The LX hit the brakes and stopped abruptly, to the point where I prefer to drive with this technology turned off.
All things considered, the LX 570 is far worse to drive on the highway than any other full-size luxury SUV. But at least it can excel off the beaten track. I didn’t have the chance to off-road this tester, but I hit the ground on the LX in 2016, and the 2021 model is the same.
A lockable center differential is standard as is the two-speed transfer case and five different terrain modes. Air suspension can give the Lexus more than 11 inches of ground clearance and there’s some nifty technology that applies brakes to the inner wheels when the road gets narrow.
It’s far more capable in the rugged than anything from a BMW or Mercedes-Benz. It will stand toe-to-toe with the Range Rover.
2023 Lexus LX Hybrid
In a few years, Lexus will likely introduce one or two hybrid variants for the LX. A US petrol-electric full-hybrid variant is almost certain, while a mild-hybrid diesel variant could be on track, for Europe.
The powertrain of the petrol-electric hybrid variant may not be the same as the system Lexus offers in the LS sedan. The first Land Cruiser Hybrid, to be launched as part of the Land Cruiser 300 series, will have a single-motor hybrid system rather than the current dual-motor Toyota Hybrid System II (THS II). Best Cars. The US-bound LX petrol-electric hybrid could get the same kind of electrification.
The intention behind this move may not be to add to the weight of an already large SUV. The report adds that the single-motor hybrid powertrain (expected to be a 3.5-liter V6 turbo-hybrid) will work with a 10-speed automatic transmission.

In addition to getting standard 4WD, the 2023 Lexus LX will get a new version of Toyota’s electronically controlled Kinematic Dynamic Suspension system. This will give the SUV a very comfortable ride while still retaining its off-road capabilities. In the new Land Cruiser, the TNGA-F sheds 200 kg or 441 pounds; which will help the LX handle better on pavement and improve overall efficiency.
The Multi-Terrain Select system, which automatically scans the road surface and selects the right riding mode for it, should also come standard on the LX.
